Toxins & Fillers
Schedule A ConsultationBOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic, which is also known as a cosmetic form of the botulinum toxin, is a fashionable non-surgical injection that may temporarily reduce frown lines, forehead creases, and crow’s feet around the eyes. The botulinum toxin works by blocking the nerve impulses and temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles. BOTOX® Cosmetic injections also serve to give the skin a smooth, refreshed appearance. Among non-surgical cosmetic procedures performed today, BOTOX® Cosmetic is the single most popular and patient satisfaction is extremely high.
Other Facial Rejuvenation Procedures, Injectables & Fillers
Dysport™ is an injection used to temporarily inhibit the muscle contractions that create facial folds and wrinkles. It is injected into the muscle treatment site exactly like Botox.
Restylane™ restores volume and fullness in the skin and corrects moderate to severe facial wrinkling and folds.
Juvéderm™ is another hyaluronic acid injectable gel. It is used to instantly smooth out facial wrinkles and folds. It is an excellent temporary filler, which lasts nine months plus.
Radiesse™: is a highly effective, temporary filler that lasts about one year. It works well for treatment of the nasolabial folds or laugh lines, marionette lines and facial volume replacement. It is the product that generated the new term, “liquid facelift”.
Sculptra™ was FDA approved for correction of facial lipoatrophy (loss of facial fat) in the United States on August 18, 2004. It has been approved and used in Europe since 1999 and to date, has been used on more than 175,000 patients. Since poly-L-lactic acid, a derivative of fruit acid, comes from neither animal nor human sources, no skin testing is required before a treatment can be done.
Autologous Fat injections, also known as microlipoinjection is a facial fat sculpting method that makes use of the patient’s own body fat to plump up sunken areas of the face or to add volume where desired.

The success of your BOTOX® Cosmetic or injectable procedure depends on the quality of your participation in the initial consultation at Birmingham Cohn Plastic Surgery. You will need to be prepared to discuss why you want injections, your personal medical history, drug allergies, use of medications, vitamins, herbal supplements, alcohol, tobacco and drugs, and any family history of disease. If applicable, Dr. Cohn will discuss any past treatment with injectable fillers, facial shaping, BOTOX® Cosmetic therapy, or other facial rejuvenation procedures.
Dr. Cohn will perform a physical examination and may take detailed measurements of your individual physical attributes. Photographs may be taken for your medical record. At that point, he will be prepared to discuss your BOTOX® Cosmetic or injectable options and recommend a course of treatment. The consultation consists of a thorough discussion to get a sense of what an anticipated final appearance might look like. Dr. Cohn is happy to assist with recommendations while using your personal goals to guide final decision making.

As with most injectables, BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected through the application of a small needle directly into the muscle that causes wrinkles. The entire BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment can be completed in about 10 minutes. Due to the fact that the injection procedure is non-surgical, no recovery time is necessary. As a course of treatment, BOTOX® Cosmetic injections typically need to be repeated every 3 to 4 months.
-
BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are not without risk. Dr. Cohn will fully review and explain the risks associated with your procedure. After you fully understand the procedure, you will be asked to sign consent forms.
-
As an elective, non-surgical cosmetic procedure, the cost of BOTOX® Cosmetic injections is rarely a consideration for most patients. Grotting and Birmingham Cohn Plastic Surgery proudly offers patient financing plans, so be sure to ask if such a plan is of interest to you.
