Reconstructive Breast Surgery
Description:
40-year-old female with a prior history of bilateral nipple-preserving mastectomies and reconstruction performed at an outside facility. Her post op course was complicated by healing complications requiring removal of her expanders to allow for safe completion of breast cancer therapy. She underwent radiation therapy to her left chest. She subsequently underwent bilateral delayed breast reconstruction using latissimus dorsi flaps and tissue expanders. At the time of her second stage surgery, expanders were exchanged for a 520mL on the left and a 485mL on the right and she underwent nipple reconstruction with autologous fat injection to her breasts. After photos were taken 10 months following her second stage surgery and completion of areola restoration.
